This portrayal of Great Livermere Hall is in a naïve style typical of English country house paintings of the 18th century. It is a classic example of an English country house of the period with its large coach house, sweeping drive and pruned trees all standing within a parkland setting. It faced the medieval church, which had a tower built on to its belfry specifically to create an eye catching view from the Hall. Sadly the house no longer exists but the church does. Oil on canvas; English, circa 1775.
