Description

This extraordinarily well executed engraving of the drawing by Carle Vernet (1758-1836) of an Arab stallion is number one from a collection of hand coloured engravings. Beautifully muscled, the stallion racehorse is at peak fitness and the style conforms to the almost anatomical approach of the day. It was engraved by Levacher in the early part of the 19th Century.
