Description

A rare 18th Century yew wood corner chair with shaped, pierced splats and balluster turnings raised on square section legs. The broad flat arms with a capitol on which is carved a divider and set square - a symbol of the masons. (See alternate photo). These trade symbols were used from the earliest times and lodges always had a ceremonial chair - this is a particularly finely made example. English, circa 1760.
