Description

Oak Arts and Crafts commemorative engraved mirror of a horse with jockey. The horse is called Tonons and the jockey is Fred Archer (1857-1886), who is accepted as the best all-round jockey that the turf has ever seen. He won 2748 races including 21 classics, and was champion jockey 13 times before he sadly took his life at the age of 29. He is easily recognisable by his distinctive long back. English, circa 1890.
