Superb country or estate made oak chest on stand raised on shell carved cabriole legs and ball and claw feet. The shaped apron has a large central carved shell and above the graduated cockbeaded drawers is a cushion moulded document drawer. These are all features which typically span the first half of the 18th century, and therefore makes this piece dateable to about 1745. It retains its original colour, patina and plate brass handles. English, circa 1745.
