A Scottish 18th Century toaster. The front hooks over the grate of an open fire and the handle pushes the ram’s horn holders in and out to make the toast. As a decorative feature, the ram’s horn was often used in Scotland. One particularly thinks of Scottish pistols with their ram’s horn butts. Scottish, circa 1745.
