Bay Hunter Watercolour

Bay Hunter Watercolour

Late 18th Century bright bay hunter gelding with a cropped tail set in a beautiful meadow landscape, which has an almost inky indigo quality. The gelding is shown in a rocking horse posture owing to the fact that it was not until the advent of photography that the horse’s true conformation and stride patterns were widely known. English watercolour, circa 1780.
