A naive highlighted watercolour of a full length portrait of Seth Brown Bath pie man dated 1835. He is carrying a tray of pies and is wearing a baker’s apron and protective lower arm sleeves. A charming depiction of earlier times similar in style to John Dempsey, the itinerant early 19th century artist, with his depiction of ordinary working people. Initialled “RD” and dated 1835. English, 1835.
