A wonderful quality coquilla nut carving in the form of a snuff box, probably French prisoner of war, for sale into the English market. The lid of the snuff box has a replete game bag on top of shooting and hunting paraphernalia. The underside has the most staggering three dimensional view of a tavern hunting feast, complete with diced table cloth, begging dog, bottles of wine and a serving wench, all of the highest quality carving. The ends are carved with foliage and a conch shell, again symbols of plenty. French, circa 1810.
