Details

One of a rare and powerful pair of  heavy industrial steelwork pictures. This one features the casting process with sparks flying out of the crucible and the men wearing laceless clogs to prevent their feet getting burnt.  Lined up on the shelves are the various crucibles in which the iron ore was melted. It is a powerful image of this dangerous, physical, industrial process and the use of light makes the heat almost tangible. This is a mixed media painting of watercolour and oils on card and was probably done by an accomplished factory worker. In contemporary angle iron frame.English, circa 1930.
