For the whisky connoisseur, this appealing calendar wall hanging displays day, date and month on handpainted scrolls in full working order. It was made for Greenlees Brothers Distillers who produced ‘Rare Old Claymore Scotch Whisky’. In 1881, Greenless Brothers were local farmers on Islay and they built Bunnahabhain Distillery on the mouth of the River Margadale. Their enterprise was named the Islay Distillery Company Ltd and amalgamated with Glenrothes Glenlivit Distillery in 1887 to become Highland Distilleries Company – almost all its production was used for blending of which Claymore was one. Scottish, circa 1890.
