17th Century Cherub’s Head

Cherubs Head

A limewood carved cherub’s head with lovely historic paint and a very serene expression. Limewood was favoured by carvers for its forgiving nature allowing the craftsman to carve almost against the grain of the wood. English, circa 1685.
