Made at the Robert Thompson workshops from quarter cut oak, dug out and adzed to shape. Born in Kilburn, North Yorkshire in 1876, Robert Thompson trained in his father’s cabinet making firm, which he eventually took over. In 1919, he undertook his first major commission from Father Paul Neville of Ampleforth. His trademark mouse first appeared in 1920 and was modified in 1930 to remove the front legs, which kept breaking off. English, circa 1935.
