Folk Art Highlanders

A very rare pair of folk art carved Highland figures – a Piper in full Highland dress and a fisherwoman complete with basket of fish on her back. Note the piper’s sporran, which is of typical late 18th/early 19th Century style. These figures would probably have been made at around the time of George IV’s visit to Scotland in 1822 during which he wore Highland dress and reinvigorated an interest in all things Scottish. Carved Scots Pine with original faux Ivory paint.
