Details

A pair of cast iron dovetailed and riveted quadrant stepped 18th century plant stands with reeded decoration. The back is supported by a wrought iron spiral leg and not being overly big, they were designed to be moved to any part of the garden to create impact – the corners of a lawn as viewed from the house, the head of a staircase, the corners of walled gardens and such like. They date from the Capability Brown period of garden design. English, circa 1770.
