A coin toy money box featuring a Corporal from the Guards. You put the coin on his hat and push it so that the coin falls into the money box. It can be retrieved by pushing the end panel. The soles of his feet are weighted so that he rocks backwards and forwards. This piece dates from soon after the Crimea War period where the French were fighting alongside the British which finally lead to the Entente Cordiale, symbolised by the two flags around the money slot.
