The second of this delightful pair of Canadian folk art paintings, also with much detail. This one has a girl in a blue spotty dress with a dog, feeding chickens. A pony in blinkers is pulling a cart, a river with fish and flowers, probably water parsnips, cattle grazing on the other bank and horses and sheep on a hill below a windmill. Signed on the front J.Champness and dated 1893. Both of the paintings have written on the back, probably in the 1950’s, ” Canadian Farmstead (British Columbia) near Lillouet dated 1893 by J.Champness” and a price of £90 for the pair. Oil on Board,British Columbia, 1893.
