An 18th century leather fire bucket, copper riveted together. Fire buckets were filled with sand and positioned in strategic places for use in the event of a fire. They usually carry the armorial of the house from which they were from, in this case a Royal one, so presumably from a Royal household. It has the original paint and a wonderful patina.
