A delightful Folk Art collage showing a girl sending a reply to a Valentine. A bird is shown about to carry away her letter, Cupid with his bow is hiding in the foliage, another Cupid in a cage sits below whilst two cut-out sheep kiss on the grass. The inscription below reads ‘ I saw, that ever and anon Thy dark eyes glanced on me; My youthful heart was not of stone, and then it bent to thee:- Valentine 25th Feb 1832’. English, 1832.
