A late 17th century commode made of oak and walnut, very unusually with an inlaid front, making it a cut well above the average. The lift- up lid reveals a box like interior of which the backboard is very charmingly made of re-used carved oak, showing that wood not labour was the valuable commodity in those times. It is a wonderful small size with original pear drop handles. English, circa 1690.
